The Hospice

Just like everyone else, life-limited children and young people need a place to play, laugh and love life.  A place where they and their families are cared for and supported.  Rainbows is their hospice – the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people.

Sadly, some children simply don’t live long enough.  Since 1994 Rainbows has opened its doors and hearts to those children and the people who love them the most.  And now more than ever, Rainbows needs your help to keep on bringing care and happiness to their children and families.

Rainbows is a place where life-limited children and their families, who are facing extraordinary challenges, can find specialist care and support.  Their incredible team of people help relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end.

Keele University RAG Bungee Fundraiser Event

Keele Univeristy RAG Bungee Fundraiser Event

(Picture 7.jpg) (Picture 6.png)(Picture 8.jpg)

On the 13th March 2013 Keele Univserity RAG will be hosting a Fantastic Fundraising Bungee Event to raise essential for the Peter Pan Nursery and Combat Stress

The first Keele RAG was organised in 1956. It grew out of the 1956 Charity Ball which was a way of collecting for charity and to break down any barriers between “Town and Gown”. RAG day soon consisted of a long procession of decorated vehicles and floats around Newcastle and Stoke, accompanied by student collectors in fancy dress. There were bucket collections and sales of a “humorous” magazine called WOOP! Stunts, whether planned or impromptu, were a regular feature.    RAG gradually lost momentum as health and safety regulations restricted the permissible activities… but RAG was revived by the Students’ Union in 2009 as “Raising and Giving Week”. This has become a successful charity fundraising event – but without a procession.

Charities: This year we’re supporting three key charities: The Peter Pan Nursery for Children with Special Needs, based locally in Newcastle-under-Lyme, The University Hospital of North Staffordshire Charity, based locally in Stoke-on-Trent and Combat Stress, a national charity.

The Peter Pan Nursery supports children with a range of special needs aged from birth to five years from across Staffordshire, South Cheshire and beyond.

We are supporting the University Hospital of North Staffordshire Charity and their appeal for funds for installing their new PET Scanner which allows Doctors to see the spread of cancer in the body and plan the best treatment for the individual patient.

Combat Stress is a national charity providing a range of services to support veterans with mental health issues.

IMARA Charity Bungee Fundraiser - Elwes Arms Nothingham

On Monday 25th May 2015, IMARA Trama Care are holding a Charity Bungee Fundraiser at:

The Elwes Arms, Oakdale Road, Carlton, Notingham NG4 1DH.

This fun event is held to raise money for a fantastic and much needed cause, your particaption is greatly appreciated.

IMARA is an early intervention service for children and families in Nottinghamshire, following a disclosure of sexual abuse. The core focus of our work is to facilitate recovery from child sexual abuse. As there is an absence of statutory early intervention, IMARA works with families from the point of disclosure to the Police. IMARA provides support through the criminal justice process; provides strategies to cope with acute trauma symptoms (e.g. sleep disturbance, flashbacks, and anxiety), normalises children's experience and helps them regain their normal family relationships and ability to cope day-to-day. Our service highlights the on-going disruption to families' emotional wellbeing and physical health, and the practical impacts upon housing, employment and education and aims to minimise the effects on the individuals involved, empowering them to recover and reclaim their futures. IMARA facilitates engagement with other services and refers individuals for on-going pre-trial therapy and counselling. IMARA’s service provides support to families affected by child abuse regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, language and physical ability. We set a lower age limit of 4-5 years when children are deemed capable of completing a video interview, but work with families where younger siblings benefit from parents improved capacity.

• £10.00 will allow IMARA Trauma Care Workers to travel 25 miles to see clients who need home visits

• £50.00 will allow a full day of visits for a Trauma Care Worker

• £100.00 provides a therapeutic assessment to a victim to reduce their acute stress symptoms

IMARA are a unique service, being the only one of its kind in Nottingham. Should this service cease to exist, many families and young people would be left without support.

As we are solely reliant on grant funding, fundraising events are crucial to the continuation of IMARA.
